A Fool's Course Of Action

I mistook attraction for honest connection
A common distraction when seeking perfection
A fool's course of action, a fool's predilection
And your sole reaction was crushing rejection

What I Think I Might Have Learned.

Trade future good for future best;
And lay your broken dreams to rest.

Todo Que SerĂ¡, Ha Sido.

I stand alone in darkness, asking questions
concerning possibilities, impossibilities
shutting from my mind the cruel reality
that I am he who stands alone in darkness.

When I Gave Up, Jesus Didn't

O Lord, I know no rest or peace unless
I place my faith in Your great faithfulness;
Though doubts and fears pursue me day and night,
I walk within the safety of Your Light.

Weightlessness

Perhaps I fear the weightlessness
Of floating up above despair;
Am I afraid of happiness?
Or just the journey leading there?

Upon Waking

I had a dream; it took a year
To wake and make it disappear.
The haunting echoes faded fast;
My eyes beheld the sun at last.

"Freedom"

there's a certain freedom in giving up
on life, love, dreams, happiness
and letting the rot of bitterness
spread like poison in your veins

I don't even want to be rescued anymore.

Autumnatic Assumption

I think the coming Fall will break me
(Is it hate or love I fear?)
It seems the seasons ever take me
Onward into yesteryear.

Blackheart Blues

My broken heart begins to rot;
Just watch -- you'll see the blackness grow.
Is love the cure, or is it not?
I wonder if I'll ever know.

Out Of My Shell

I threw my selfish pride away,
Though just to brighten up her day;
And maybe hoping she would see
I love her more than I love me.

-- c. noel

Indeed.

"will you ever say
how much you love me?
will you ever say
no one above me?
will you ever see
just what you mean to me?"

Unfinished Sonnet

How to your truest love dare I aspire?
In haste do I my lowly place forget?
Despair of love entombs the heart's desire,
But reckless hope leads often to regret!
Oh, dark is doubt! Yet love is bright and true;
There is no fear in love -- and I love you.

In Dreams and Music, Poetry

In dreams and music, poetry --
I love you darling, rose of blue!
This foolish dreamer dreams of you --
My missing rhyme, my harmony.

The Valley Dreams of Mountain Peaks

I walk this valley of loving you
After eight long months now I'm halfway through
And maybe I'm just a tale you tell
But I love you now more than when I fell

Incandescent

Incandescent light

Shadowheart is shining bright
Freed from demons: Darkness, Doubt

Maddest Hatter

I wonder: Am I wisely waiting?
Or am I only hesitating?
But whether former or the latter,
I'm fast becoming maddest hatter...

Titanic Heart

On days like this, with silence blaring
I sit alone, at nothing staring
I lose myself in wishful thinking
As my Titanic heart is sinking

Winternity

When Winter came four months ago,
It stole the Autumn leaves away,
And ev'ry word you had to say;
I'd hoped the Spring would melt this snow!

Now Spring is ending; Summer nears.
The sun is warm upon my skin,
But there's a hidden realm within
Where Winter seems to last for years...

Words My Heart Has Heard: A Paraphrase

You, Seeker of every form of beauty,
Lover of all that may be called lovely,
You will find a greater treasure than
Heretofore you in vain have sought;
But it is not where even now you seek.

On the opposite face of that distant peak
Just beyond this lowland Field of Vision,
You, oh Seeker, shall be known as Finder;
Yet by far the greatest wealth is not the gift,
But I, the Giver. Come, Seeker; follow Me.

"That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; [i]n whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."

Bumblebee

Today I saw a bumblebee;
He nearly bumbled into me.
He flew as in a drunken daze,
And danced a clumsy pollen-aise.

On a Day in March

That golden summer, auburn fall
When we were friends -- do you recall?
Now winter's end is weeks away;
Will springtime lend you words to say?

Or have you now forgotten me?
Will ev'ry season winter be?

I Recall

I recall a winter night
Hopeless, helpless, standing there
Giving in to dark despair
Hoping for a sign, a light.

"If you want me, here I am"
Words I spoke for You to hear
Words to which You lent Your ear
God of mercy, Holy Lamb!

I recall a stainless knife
Only stayed by mortal fears
(Though I wished to end my tears)
I sought death; You gave me Life.

A Conversation

Oh cheerless dove --
Alone, forlorn --
Is it not love
For which you mourn?

Take heart, and sing!
There's joy somewhere;
Your feathered wing
Will take you there.

Return someday,
And bring to me
The glint of sun
Upon the sea.

Solitude

A little solitude I seek --
A cabin on a mountain peak,
A rocking chair, an endless view --
An evening lost in thoughts of you.

Imagining a Moment

Chopin in my ears; life slows down and I
close eyes and see a moment that might be
or might not be; a drop of last night's rain
dripping down, falling from roof to stone,
in a second, in an hour, time crawls

I see a girl walking and talking with
words on her lips, thoughts not yet fully
formed, perhaps telling another soul
the quickly fading memories of last night's
dream, and the emotion -- oh the emotion!
"It felt so real," she says, "I was in love."

Chopin's Nocturne speeds up, slows down, ends
Imagination follows suit; time returns to the
"speed of life," as Keane would undoubtedly
point out, quoting himself, were he here...

Springtime

We used to talk for hours on end.
I called you Love; you called me Friend.

But then the Autumn turned to grey,
And you found less and less to say.

Your heart turned cold when Winter came;
And yet I love you all the same!

Do you now leave me in the dust?
But go your way; I know you must.

When you return, I'll still be here;
I'll see you in the Springtime, dear.

Ten Thousand Words

"Dearest you"
"Yours Truly, me"

between the two
ten thousand words

a paper sky
of inky birds

born to fly
oh, endlessly.

Better Words Than Mine.

Song of Solomon 8:6-7

King James Version (KJV)

 6Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.
 7Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.
